The Louvre: This amazing and huge museum – about 35,000 works of art – althoug not in Le Marias, is about 20 minutes walk away from the apartment. Originally a royal palace, it became a museum at the end of the 18th century displaying works up to the mid 19th century, including the Venus of Milo and Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Go and get lost to find yourself.
These museums in Paris outside the Marais are well worth a visit:
Musée Jacquemart-André: Created from the private home of Édouard André (1833–1894) and Nélie Jacquemart. Édouard married the well-known society painter, Nélie Jacquemart, who had painted his portrait 10 years earlier. Every year, the couple would travel in Italy, amassing one of the finest collections of Italian art in France. When Edouard André died, Nélie bequeathed the mansion and its collections to the Institut de France, and it opened to the public in 1913. It has state, private and informal apartments, an Italian museum and a winter garden.
